home : hymns
[edit this content] For the summer of 2004, "the a cappella group" is switching to "hymn-singing" mode.
By singing hymns (mostly familiar stuff from the hymnal),
we should be able to perform more frequently,
since the amount of work needed to prepare these songs is significantly lower
than our usual arrangements (note that in this mode, we would not be attempting to actually memorize the music we're performing).
During the summer, more-frequent performance is a good thing because the choir is on break and because there is a general dearth of available performers.
If this works out, then it is possible that we may want / need to do some more (occasional) hymn-singing even after summer is over.
THE LIST
[edit this content] We have "bucketed" these hymns according the function that they could fill in a service.
Note that some songs appear in multiple "buckets", since those songs are appropriate for multiple functions in the service. Note also that it might be a good idea to sing multiple (different) songs in the same service, since there is a significant amount of overhead required to warm up and prepare the group on the morning of a performance.

Just as I Am: as an invitation song
Doxology: ???... basically, it doesn't have to just be a benediction
